Basic Tricks

Once you master the basic controls, you can start learning some basic tricks. Here are some of the most common ones and how to do them:

  • Ollie: This is the most fundamental trick in skateboarding. It is simply popping your board up in the air by tapping on the tail and then leveling it out by sliding your finger forward. You can ollie higher by tapping harder and sliding faster. You can also ollie while moving or stationary.

  • Kickflip: This is an ollie with a flick of your finger on the heel side (right side for regular stance, left side for goofy stance) of the board. This will make your board spin 360 degrees along its axis. You need to catch it with your finger and land on it smoothly. You can kickflip higher by flicking harder and faster. You can also kickflip while moving or stationary.

  • Heelflip: This is an ollie with a flick of your finger on the toe side (left side for regular stance, right side for goofy stance) of the board. This will make your board spin 360 degrees along its axis in the opposite direction of a kickflip. You need to catch it with your finger and land on it smoothly. You can heelflip higher by flicking harder and faster. You can also heelflip while moving or stationary.

  • Pop Shove-it: This is an ollie with a slight swipe of your finger on either side of the board. This will make your board spin 180 degrees along its length. You need to catch it with your finger and land on it smoothly. You can pop shove-it higher by swiping harder and faster. You can also pop shove-it while moving or stationary.

  • Frontside or Backside 180: This is an ollie with a tilt of your device or stick in either direction. This will make your skater and board rotate 180 degrees in that direction. You need to land on it smoothly and roll away in switch stance (opposite of your original stance). You can 180 higher by tilting harder and faster. You can also 180 while moving or stationary.

Advanced Tricks

If you want to challenge yourself and impress others, you can try some advanced tricks. Here are some of them and how to do them:

  • Hard Flip: This is a combination of a frontside pop shove-it and a kickflip. You need to pop your board up, swipe it slightly to the left (for regular stance) or right (for goofy stance), and flick it on the heel side at the same time. This will make your board spin 360 degrees along its diagonal. You need to catch it with your finger and land on it smoothly. You can hard flip higher by popping, swiping, and flicking harder and faster. You can also hard flip while moving or stationary.

  • Varial Kickflip: This is a combination of a pop shove-it and a kickflip. You need to pop your board up, swipe it slightly to the right (for regular stance) or left (for goofy stance), and flick it on the heel side at the same time. This will make your board spin 180 degrees along its length and 360 degrees along its axis. You need to catch it with your finger and land on it smoothly. You can varial kickflip higher by popping, swiping, and flicking harder and faster. You can also varial kickflip while moving or stationary.

  • Varial Heelflip: This is a combination of a pop shove-it and a heelflip. You need to pop your board up, swipe it slightly to the right (for regular stance) or left (for goofy stance), and flick it on the toe side at the same time. This will make your board spin 180 degrees along its length and 360 degrees along its axis in the opposite direction of a varial kickflip. You need to catch it with your finger and land on it smoothly. You can varial heelflip higher by popping, swiping, and flicking harder and faster. You can also varial heelflip while moving or stationary.

  • 360 Flip: This is a combination of a 360 pop shove-it and a kickflip. You need to pop your board up, swipe it hard to the left (for regular stance) or right (for goofy stance), and flick it on the heel side at the same time. This will make your board spin 360 degrees along its length and 360 degrees along its axis. You need to catch it with your finger and land on it smoothly. You can 360 flip higher by popping, swiping, and flicking harder and faster. You can also 360 flip while moving or stationary.

  • Laser Flip: This is a combination of a 360 pop shove-it and a heelflip. You need to pop your board up, swipe it hard to the left (for regular stance) or right (for goofy stance), and flick it on the toe side at the same time. This will make your board spin 360 degrees along its length and 360 degrees along its axis in the opposite direction of a 360 flip. You need to catch it with your finger and land on it smoothly. You can laser flip higher by popping, swiping, and flicking harder and faster. You can also laser flip while moving or stationary.

  • Inward Heelflip: This is a combination of a frontside pop shove-it and a heelflip. You need to pop your board up, swipe it slightly to the left (for regular stance) or right (for goofy stance), and flick it on the toe side at the same time. This will make your board spin 180 degrees along its length and 360 degrees along its axis in the same direction as a varial kickflip. You need to catch it with your finger and land on it smoothly. You can inward heelflip higher by popping, swiping, and flicking harder and faster. You can also inward heelflip while moving or stationary.

Grinds and Slides

Besides doing tricks in the air, you can also do tricks on rails, ledges, curbs, benches, boxes, pipes, and other objects in the skateparks. These are called grinds and slides, depending on whether you use your trucks or your deck to slide along the object. Here are some of them and how to do them:
